    I. The Elder Regime - Court of Iron and Blood

After the Blackout, the kindred population in the city dropped to 0. This massive power vacuum attracted the worst and more powerful to step in and take control. Nathaniel Beauregard had always hated the city, almost as much as he hated the yankees. Having to watch his home burn when he returned from the civil war, it was in his shift to politics that introduced him to his would be sire, who also believed in the superiority of the white man and that black people not only belonged in chains, but that it was what was 'best' for them. Needless to say, this soulless monster pushed hard against reformation, civil rights, and anything that would hurt his blessed confederate south. Now he has taken this city from the yankees and is 'cleaning out' the riff raff and trying to order society and create a stable, appropriate society for the kindred.

What this looks like is a harsh oppression of all younger kindred, or those who do not meet Prince Beauregards standards for a right and proper member of society. The death, murder, and enslavement of these lowlifes is, as Beauregard says, simply his right and privilege. Those who wish to say otherwise have that right as well, which will of course lead to them greeting the sun. As the leader of the first estate, the Prince has made sure to make room for the second estate, as no good society could exist without the church and a proper fear of the divine.

All kindred entering the city are to be introduced to him, and he declare whether they may stay. The Prince holds Elysium weekly in one of the nicer dining halls along the river, with a changing venue throughout the year. Within the city, Invictus are held as lords, the Sanctified are welcomed warmly, the Ordo are accepted so long as they behave, and the Carthians and Circle of the Crone are enslaved, slain, or chased out of town. Those Crones and Carthians still in the city either hide or group up into a large enough Coterie that the Prince is forced to allow their tainted presence.

Prince Nathaniel Beauregard (Daeva, Invictus / Lancea et Sanctum Ally)

Embrace: 1851 — former Southern plantation owner who feels the civil war never ended. A strong advocate and officer for the Confederacy, Nathaniel went into politics shortly after the end of the war in order to make sure government put right the unnatural laws that let the black man walk free. Since his embrace, he has gotten only worse...and saw the sudden vacuum of Chicago as his chance to finally ascend to his own throne, instead of standing in the shadow of others.
Mask: Philanthropist and real estate magnate, with deep ties to political elites.
Dirge: Lord of the Old Order.
Covenant: Invictus (but piously aligned with the Lancea et Sanctum).

    Description:
Nathaniel was Embraced by a Sanctified Daeva who saw his cruelty as a reflection of divine wrath. In undeath, he carries that conviction: that Kindred are God’s chosen predators, ordained to shepherd and punish humanity. He maintains a “Southern court” aesthetic — genteel, formal, but cold as marble.

    Agenda:
Preserve his rule through the “divine hierarchy” of Kindred — elders over neonates, tradition over chaos. He sees the young anarchists as “Cainites without grace.”

Touchstone: A historic church in Bronzeville he restored, where his “flock” worships him through veiled sermons.

Bishop Alaric Morrow (Nosferatu, Lancea et Sanctum)

    Embrace: 1880s — once a firebrand preacher.
Mask: “Father Morrow,” an eccentric chaplain who counsels the city’s homeless.
    Dirge: Confessor.

    Role:
Beauregard’s spiritual advisor, the local Bishop of the Lancea et Sanctum. Alaric truly believes Beauregard is a divinely appointed Prince but fears the elder’s arrogance will damn them all. He keeps the Sanctified community stable but is quietly losing faith.

    Secret:
He receives visions from something in the city’s old water tunnels — a whispering “angel” that might not be divine at all.

    II. The Rising Fire

    Rosa “Riot” Martínez (Gangrel, Unaligned/Anarchist)

Embrace: 2012 — former community organizer turned undead revolutionary.
Mask: Social media activist, streaming under the pseudonym “@ChiNocturne.”
    Dirge: Rebel.

    Role:
Leader of the “Crimson Dawn,” a loose confederation of neonates, Caitiff, and disillusioned ancillae calling for an end to elder tyranny. She argues the Requiem should be about self-definition, not servitude to old gods or princes.

Covenant: Officially Unaligned, but pulling young Acolytes, Dragons, and defecting Sanctified together under one banner.

    Ambition:
To expose Beauregard’s historical crimes and literally drag him into the sun — figuratively through revolution, perhaps literally if it comes to it.

    Weakness:
Her idealism blinds her to the fact that some of her allies are more monstrous than the tyrants she opposes.

    III. The Fringe of Faith

The Circle of the Crone: The Ashen Hearth

A coven of mystics and outcasts who dwell in abandoned breweries and riverfront warehouses in the South Side. They practice blood rites of rebirth and urban fertility.

Sister Nyx (Mekhet, Circle of the Crone)

Embrace: 1970s — urban witch and performance artist.
Mask: Reclusive sculptor whose work depicts decaying gods and broken angels.
    Dirge: Visionary.

    Role:
Leader of the Ashen Hearth. Seeks to uncover the city’s “Primordial Pulse” — an ancient, sleeping entity beneath the lake that may predate even the first Kindred to walk the Americas.

    Secret:
She’s been approached by Rosa’s radicals to join their cause, but her divinations warn that destroying Beauregard might awaken something worse.

Elias “Rustbone” Carter (Nosferatu, Circle of the Crone)

Embrace: 1910 — former slaughterhouse worker, now a shaman who communes with the city’s dead machinery.
Mask: Scrap dealer who talks to broken things.
    Dirge: Prophet of Decay.

    Role:
Keeper of forbidden rituals. Recently discovered a Sanctified relic buried in a railyard — a heart of iron and blood that still beats.

    IV. The Hidden Watchers

Dr. Vera Han (Mekhet, Ordo Dracul)

Embrace: 1998 — neuroscientist and occult analyst.
Mask: University lecturer in comparative cognition.
    Dirge: Seeker.

    Role:
Trying to map the metaphysical effects of the Kindred’s political instability on the “city’s psychic lattice.” She suspects the “angel” that speaks to Bishop Morrow is actually an ancient Strix.

    Secret:
She’s begun meeting with Rosa Martínez in secret — not for revolution, but to prevent a greater horror from feeding on their chaos.

“Professor” Julian Cobb (Ventrue, Ordo Dracul)

Embrace: 1944 — cryptologist and former OSS operative.
    Mask: Private intelligence consultant.
    Dirge: Strategist.

    Role:
Han’s reluctant partner, maintaining a network of spies among the Invictus and Sanctified. He is beginning to suspect that Beauregard’s lineage carries a curse — an inherited link to the very thing the Acolytes fear beneath the lake.

    Goal:
Decode the “Pattern of Faith and Rebellion” — the cycles of rise and fall in Chicago’s vampiric history — and break it before it consumes them all.
