    Under the Sodium Light
    Date: [1-15-2026] -- Oct 4, 2014,
Location: Chicago park, bench, under a streelamp

    Player Characters Present: Fiadh 'Sable'
    Open Spots: 0

NPCs Present: Lucas Black, Circle of the Crone
Current Scenario: Riku set up a meeting with Lucas Black, who has been looking for someone like Fiadh, as they share the same sire just a few decades apart.

Suggested Dice Pools: Perception to learn about Lucas or if its an ambush, knowledge about your bloodline or other members, social roles to get answers or information

End Trigger: Upon completion of conversation

Opener: The park is nearly empty — a thin strip of trees, a loop of cracked asphalt walking path, and a scattering of benches under flickering streetlights. The air smells of cold rain and distant traffic. Beyond the chain-link fence, the city hums in restless silence; freight trains murmur somewhere out by the river, and a stray dog barks at nothing.

A single lamp burns steady near the center of the park, a circle of dull amber light catching the mist. Fiadh sits on the bench beneath it, the faint sheen of vitae making her skin almost luminous in the night air. She has that ageless youth some Kindred carry — her Irish features sharp in the lamplight, eyes watchful, unreadable. The wind pulls a lock of hair across her cheek, and she doesn’t move to brush it away. She’s waiting.

Footsteps crunch lightly across the gravel.

Lucas Black approaches, hands in the pockets of his coat, his movements efficient but unhurried. His face looks like any other tired man’s — maybe a grad student, maybe a cop between shifts — which is exactly how he likes it. The only thing that gives him away is his stillness when he stops, the kind of stillness that doesn’t belong to the living.

He gives a small nod, polite but not formal. “Fiadh, right? You look just like Riku said — sharper in person.” There’s the faintest trace of Massachusetts in his accent, softened by years of moving around. His eyes flick across the park — habit, not paranoia. “Glad you could meet. It’s been… a strange few months.”

He gestures toward the bench, leaving the choice to her. “Mind if I sit?”

When he does, the silence returns. The lamp hums overhead. Somewhere far off, a siren wails and fades.

Lucas draws in a breath he doesn’t need, exhaling like it helps him think. “I’ve been in Chicago two years now,” he says quietly. “Came chasing whispers about whatever swallowed half the city’s shadows. Same patterns are showing up overseas — Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor. Whatever it is, it’s spreading through the lines. Thought maybe you’d seen something similar.”

He glances sideways at her. The reflection of the light glints faintly in his eyes — or maybe that’s just Auspex burning behind them. “Riku vouches for you. That’s reason enough for me. I’m hoping you’ll tell me what you’ve heard — and what’s hunting in your part of the dark.”

He falls silent, letting the invitation hang between them.

      Dice Pool: Composure (2) + Persuasion (1) = 3
Action: Learn what she can from this new "relative".

      Health: 7 - no damage
      Vitae: 5
      Willpower: 4
      Conditions: None

      Description

      “Fiadh, right?”

"In public, aye," she confirms with the briefest of nods.

      ”It’s been… a strange few months.”

"Heh, if that isn't an understatement. I was mortal less than a year ago.

      “Mind if I sit?”

"I keep hearin' how this is a free country or somesuch," she says, waving a hand casually at the seat next to her.

“Whatever it is, it’s spreading through the lines. Thought maybe you’d seen something similar.“

"Oh, saw some funny shite in a museum basement a few weeks back..." She explains the shadow monster, the Ordo box, and whatever tidbits her new mage associates shared with her while there.

      "So, what news from Sire-Dearest?"
