The Code of the Crimson Seal (summarized):

  1. No vampire shall reveal the Blood to the living.
  2. No vampire shall sire without the Duchess’s sanction.
  3. No vampire shall kill another without cause or trial.
  4. The Duchess’s word is law; her silence, decree.
  5. Blood must flow upward — fledglings owe their sustenance to their sires, who in turn tithe to the Duchess.
  6. The Bloodless are forbidden — those who starve or refuse to feed are deemed dangerous and destroyed.
